RISK MANAGEMENT IN WOODWORKING
DescriptionThe article deals with urgent questions concerning activities of woodworking industries, which face tough economic situation. Nevertheless, these enterprises reveal a definite growth of output in some kinds of products, such as fuel pellets, window units, special timber assortments, etc. The problems about possible risks connected with equipment handling were identified, which has physical and intellectual wear, as most of it has been operating since 1980. On the basis of accomplished investigations of normative and technical sources the documents were specified, which establish safety regulations for operating equipment and requirements for risk assessment techniques. The necessity of their improvement is also determined. Taking into consideration peculiarities of management of woodworking production process, the analysis was carried out in order to estimate the factors, which influence the quality of mechanical treatment by the method of 5M. Following the observations and processing of statistical data it was established that equipment and personnel show the greatest impact on the quality of half-finished and final products. Risks evaluation method for woodworking industries is suggested with due account for equipment safety parameters, which includes determination of consequences, risk probability, risk level on scale factored “high”, “medium” and “low”. Much attention is paid to the items composed: rank matrix of two-factor model, with calculations of numerical values of risks, as product probability of occurrence and severity of consequences, and risk log. Three zones were appointed with the following risk levels: the first zone with weighting factor not less than 6, the second zone: 8-16, the third: 20-25. In course of investigation, it was detected that the highest risk factor, connected with equipment operation, is probability of mechanical injuries of hands and most possible – getting cuts. The flow chart of risks management during the woodworking production process is offered in accordance with all Union State Standard regulations R ISO 9001-2015 and GOST R ISO/MAC 31010-2011. The developed algorithm provides accomplishing performance of work on risks management in more available and short form with presentation of processing operations, actual doers, kinds of required normative documents and papers worked out within the enterprise

THE RESEARCH OF PARAMETERS OF WOODEN CHIP COLORING
DescriptionThis work presents main kinds of colourants and methods of painting wood particles. Based on wood structure analysis, it was revealed that hard wood, possessing tracheides and vessels as conducting elements, have the optimal capacity for coloration, in comparison with coniferous trees. A methodology was developed of cloning wooden particles, in the form of chips, with forced immersion in order to obtain established parameters of saturation and brightness. The experiments were conducted with chips of 15-50 mm long, 5-20 mm wide and 3-7 mm thick. The composition of colouring agent included water, acetic acid, and water-emulsion colourants of different types and colours (№1 – colour code (red, yellow, and brown) №2 – colorant (lilac and orange) and №3 – paint). Experience has shown the needed concentration of liquors and mass percentage of compounding ingredients. The research was undertaken to study concentration dependence on the time of allowance and saturation. In consequence of colouring experimental batches of chips, a painting saturation of 4-9 points was obtained at the allowance of 120 and 140 seconds. Dependence of brightness from solubility was determined, with high correlation between given parameters on Pearson Criteria (more than 0.9). Comparative analysis made it possible to discover that the better colouring of particles is created with the red paint. In this case maximum colouring effect is achieved with liquor of water-emulsion paint. Subsequent to the experimental results, a design of installation for colouring wooden particles was developed and patented

06.00.00 Agricultural sciences
DescriptionThe purpose of the study was to examine a century of experience of growing of forest cultures of the Siberian stone pine in forest conditions in the region of the Middle Volga. To achieve these objectives, we have investigated old growth culture of Siberian stone pine in the conditions of fresh oak forests in the territory of Rootka forestry of the Mari El Republic. Culture of Siberian stone pine was planted after continuous tillage. The distance between rows was 2,5 m, step landing – 1,0 m. The site was divided into five options, depending on variations in the width of planting strip (I-48 m, II-44 m, in III-40 m, IV - 36 m, V - 32 m). The studies have shown that the Siberian stone pine trees, regardless of the variant, are characterized by good clean ability from twigs, which increases with decreasing of the width of the curtain. It can be noted that in the 100-year-old age, the average height of trees reaches of 28,7 m, an average diameter of 49,8 cm. Stock of forest reaches 795,3 m3 /ha. Best annual increase is observed in growing cultures of cedar in the wings with a width of 40 m and is 7,95-of 7,93 m3 /ha. Based оn the research, we have concluded that Siberian stone pine should be recommended for introduction into the zone of coniferous-broadleaved forests of the Middle Volga region. When creating crops, it is necessary to use larger seedlings and plant density is not more than 1,0 thousand pieces/ha, and the width of the planting strip shall be not less than 40,0 m.

TECHNICAL SOLUTIONS OF AN ENERGY SUPPLYING COMPLEX OF APIARY BASED ON A SOLAR PLANT
DescriptionWe have presented technical solutions of an energy supplying complex of apiary based on a solar plant, which ensure its functioning in the winter. Various aspects of the influence of the snow cover on the functioning of the complex are considered in the article. The favorable effect of the snow cover includes increasing the diffuse insolation, improving the thermal insulation of the building for placement of bees, which protects bee families from fluctuating external temperature. The negative effect of the snow cover includes adherence of snow to the receiving surfaces of solar energy converters, which can lead to decreasing the efficiency of using of photovoltaic modules and solar collectors. Both active and passive methods of combating snow sticking are suggested in article. Passive methods include installation of solar energy converters at an angle close to 90°, as well as their placement on the windward side. The simulation of the functioning of the complex based on a solar plant was conducted for climatic conditions of the Republic of Mari El (the time interval – from 14 October to 14 April, a photovoltaic module area – 1,3 m 2 with installation angles of 72˚ and 88˚). Because of the simulation, we obtained graphs of the changing the power of the photovoltaic module. Active methods include air injection onto the receiving surfaces of solar energy converters and using of heating elements

SECURITY ASSESSMENT PROBLEMS IN SAWMILL EQUIPMENT
DescriptionThe article deals with normative legal documents, regulating safety indicators of equipment, with particular focus on woodworking machinery, including log-processing equipment. General and specific requirements have been highlighted in terms of their analyses. The necessity of safety requirements’ specification in technical guidelines, with reference to construction of industry-specific trend equipment, according to newly accepted national, interstate and international standards for purposes of conformity assessment. Nonconformities were determined on the terms in Technical Guidelines of the Customs Union 021/2011, fundamental documents for woodworking equipment GOST EH 1070 and GOST ISO 12100. Relevant topic issues are declared in this work. Manufactures consider them when risk valuation is performed in point of existing equipment and that, under development non-standard equipment, connected with diversity of normative documents, absence of information about customers’ experience, accidents while operating comparable machinery, etc. The paper emphasizes complications, which participants of standard programs face, namely, development contractors and users, accredited test laboratories and certification bodies, state oversight authorities, when woodworking machinery conformity assessment is performed. The suite of safety metrics was suggested for valuation of log-processing equipment and two-level log frames, particularly, on the basis of technical guidelines requirements TG CU 021/2011 “On machinery and equipment safety”, and standards GOST EH 1070, GOST 12.2.026.0, GOST R 5454123 and GOST R 51898. The necessity of standard realization was demonstrated in relevance to obsolete methods of control over equipment (geometric and technology accuracy). GOST 10294 was accepted in 1990 and hasn’t been actualized since that time. That is the reason why it seems impossible to estimate equipment condition, as recommended monitoring facilities are missing

06.00.00 Agricultural sciences
DescriptionThe research purpose was estimate of the red oak growing suitability in Mari El Republic. To achieve this goal we investigated experienced 44-year-old red oak plantation at the Botanical garden-Institute, determined acorns morphological characteristics of red and English oaks and seedlings grown from them. The evaluation of red oak plantings identified excess of average height and tree diameter in comparison with English oak, but the sanitary condition of both oaks forests was weakened due to the influence of the complex of unfavorable factors. Morphological acorns evaluation showed that the shape factor of acorns of English oak is equal to 1.64, while the red oak is 1.1. Biometrics parameters of red oak bareroote seedlings in the field were higher than English oak bareroote seedlings. In greenhouse biometric parameters of red oak container seedlings had not excess. According to this research, red oak is recommended for use in landscape construction in Mari El Republic

THEORETICAL RESEARCH OF AN ENERGYSUPPLYING COMPLEX FOR APIARY BASED ON HYBRID SOLAR PLANT
DescriptionIn the article, we present a simulation mathematical model of an energy-supplying complex of apiary based on hybrid solar plant that establishes the relationship between the design and the operating parameters of the complex with when having conducive winter maintenance of bees. Modeling methodology involves the selection into a mathematical model of multiple levels: level of processes, that directly related with changing of climate parameters inside the hive depending on external factors, level of processes of functioning of the individual components in the complex, which are not directly connected with the processes of changing of climate parameters inside the hive, however, are necessary to ensure favorable conditions for wintering of bees. We have conducted the simulation of the complex based on hybrid solar plant for conditions: the location of apiary in the Republic of Mari El (building for placement of bees for 250 bee colonies, the number of photovoltaic modules – 10, wind power plant area – 18 m2 , the capacity of the battery – 50 A·h, the heat accumulator capacity – 3 m3 , the time interval – from 14 October to 14 April). As a result of simulation obtained graphs of the changing the thermal battery coolant temperature, the voltage at the battery terminals, the power wind turbine and PV modules, the electrical energy consumption
